In 1966, Warren Platner's "Platner Collection" for Knoll brought a sense of luxury and opulence to post-war American modernism that had not been seen before. The collection included side chairs, lounge chairs, a settee, and tables, which were available in polished chrome, rich bronze, and, for a brief period in 1969, copper. Although it is the smallest table in the collection, the side table designed by Warren Platner for Knoll in 1966 still commands attention with its striking visual presence. The wire rods used in the base create a dynamic interplay of space, resulting in shifting moire patterns that offer visual interest. This uncommon copper version of the table has a naturally formed patina that adds to its charm, and it comes with a glass top. Additionally, the original plastic extrusion ring at the base is still intact, adding to the overall appeal of the piece.
