This rare and highly coveted Vladimir Kagan Model 175C 'Sculptured Walnut Arm Chair' was designed in 1950 and is an early production example from the 1950s to early 1960s. While similar to the later Model 175E 'Sculptured Walnut Contoured Chair,' the 175C is the original 'Sculptured' design, featuring the desirable floating seat not found in later models. This is a sought-after piece for Vladimir Kagan collectors and considered the pièce de résistance by some. Its manufacturing year is yet to be confirmed, but it is believed to be from either the Kagan-Dreyfuss partnership in the 1950s or the 1960s. The fabric is possibly original, and while showing its age, it has been restored and is ready for immediate use. The chair's curvaceous sculpted arms and floating seat make it a unique and desirable piece, ideal for Mid-Century Modern, Scandanavian Modern, Danish Modern, Contemporary, Post-Modern, Traditional, Transitional, Classical or Art Deco settings. It would work well in both residential and commercial spaces such as hotel lobbies, creative design studios, and high-rise executive offices. It would also be suitable for a range of seating needs from conference rooms to occasional chairs. The chair's walnut frame has been fully refinished, and the interior foam has been replaced to ensure its strength and sturdiness. This chair is a standout piece that is both attractive and presentable, ideal for collectors and investors of art and modern design.
