During the 1960s, Italian manufacturer Artemide commissioned VIco Magistretti to design a rare table lamp made of red plastic named Dal√π, which is a manifestation of the artist's strict style that prioritizes both beauty and functionality. VIco Magistretti, hailing from Milan, studied at Parini High School before attending the Regio Politecnico Faculty of Architecture in Milan. After taking academic courses at Champ Universitarie Italien in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he spent time with Ernesto Nathan Rogers, he returned to Milan to work for his father, Piergiulio Magistretti. Magistretti soon became one of the most unique and innovative representatives of the third architectural generation. Magistretti designed furniture and objects that have become staples of contemporary production while working with notable companies such as Artemide, Oluce, Poggi, Schiffini Mobili Cucine, and Gebrüder Thonet Vienna. His designs are in the permanent collection of the MoMA and many other museums across Europe and America. Artemide, established in the 1960s, has become one of the world's most renowned lighting brands due to its philosophy of The Human Light and track record of groundbreaking designs. The company has regularly filed invention patents to develop technological, mechanical, and optoelectric lighting solutions and has contributed to international design history with products like Eclisse, Tolomeo, Pipe, and the IN-EI Collection by Issey Miyake. The vintage lamp is in original condition and features an original Italian plug that can be converted or used with an adapter.
