The CS49 model is a chest of drawers designed by VIco Magistretti in the 1970s and produced by Poggi. It features four frontal drawers and four doors with inner shelves, all set against a black lacquered wood structure. The top of the chest is upholstered with black skai or faux leather. Magistretti was a prominent Italian architect and designer who graduated from the Polytechnic University of Milan and worked in partnership with Franco Montella. He was a leader in the Modern Movement, and his work influenced the minimalist school of design in the late 20th century. He designed furniture for companies such as Cassina and Oluce, as well as interiors for a variety of spaces. He received numerous awards throughout his career, including the prestigious Golden Compass Award for Lifetime Achievement. After his death in 2006, his studio was transformed into a museum dedicated to preserving and promoting his work.
