A set of fourteen dining chairs designed by VIco Magistretti for Cassina, Italy in the 1960s. The renowned "Carimate" chair was initially created for the Club House of Carimate's Golf Club restaurant. After numerous manufacturers, Magistretti applied for a patent for the construction of the chair in 1963. Inspired by traditional country furniture, the chair features a simple straw seat and red lacquered wood frame with an open, architectural design, which creates a bold statement. The combination of Italian craftsmanship and modernist designs make these chairs timeless. VIco Magistretti's innovative experimentation with materials and space solutions has contributed to the widespread recognition of his designs, including furniture, lamps and other objects. Our atelier has carefully restored these chairs, leaving slight signs of use and time that only enhance their charming character.
