This set of ten dining chairs, designed by VIco Magistretti for Cassina, are known as the "Carimate" chairs, and are a highly popular and iconic creation. Originally made for the restaurant at the Club House of 'Carimate's Golf Club', the chairs have undergone various manufacturing processes, with Magistretti notably applying for a patent in 1963. These chairs are evocative of countryside furniture, utilising wood and straw materials, and have an expressive, architectural design. The combination of traditional Italian craftsmanship and modernist style ensures that these chairs are truly timeless. VIco Magistretti's designs are distinguished by their cultural significance, innovative material experimentation, and unique shapes and functions that stand apart from the trends of the era. Cassina was the first manufacturer for whom Magistretti designed, beginning in 1960, and many of his works bear the mark of the company. Our atelier has carefully restored these chairs, which show slight signs of age and use but retain their charm.
