In 1977, VIco Magistretti designed a table lamp that would go on to become the quintessential example of its kind. Manufactured by Oluce in Italy, the Atollo lamp won the Compasso d'Oro award in 1979 and broke with tradition to create a design that was both timeless and iconic. Comprising geometric shapes like cylinders, cones and hemispheres, the lamp is decorative yet essential and has become one of the most recognizable examples of Italian design. Made from opaline blown Murano glass, the lamp gives direct and diffused light, controlled by a universal dimmer. Measuring 50cm wide by 70cm high and with two E27 and two E14 bulb fittings, the lamp continues Oluce's long tradition of unmatched manufacturing excellence. The company has received numerous awards throughout its history, including two Golden Compass awards and two Design Awards, becoming a mainstay in the world's most important permanent design collections. From pioneers like Tito Agnoli and Joe Colombo to contemporary designers such as Mist-o and David Lopez Quincoces, Oluce continues to push the boundaries of design and decoration in lighting.
