The Artemide Company's iconic and well-known chairs include the Selene Chair, designed by VIco Magistretti, which has gained popularity for its elegant and functional design since its introduction to the market. This piece of furniture showcases how advanced technology can produce not only practical items, but also refined and sophisticated objects. The Selene Chair is mass-produced using fiberglass-reinforced polyester injection molding in a single molding and pressing process. Magistretti opted for an "S" shaped leg design to solve its structural problem and to provide additional strength to the 3mm thick plastic sheet. The "S" leg design enhances the seat's rigidity and prevents it from bending under the user's weight, making it a collectible design product and a cult object. The Selene Chair is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, convenient and portable, and can be stacked for easy storage. Its soft and rounded lines reflect the Space Age design style of the 1970s. Our chairs were designed by VIco Magistretti and produced by Artemide in Milan between 1969 and 1970, with the originality mark stamped on the back of the seat (see photo). VIco Magistretti, a leading Italian design master born in Milan in 1920, revolutionized design principles by broadening them to encompass all aspects of living, from building architecture to diverse interiors and legendary objects and furnishings, such as the Selene Chair. His furniture, lamps, and objects can be found worldwide, and his works have been presented in prominent museums and design collections. The Artemide Group, headquartered in Pregnana Milanese, has changed the way we design light and objects by employing design, innovation, and Made in Italy principles. Its products are created to serve human needs and to enhance quality of life through daily activities. The company has 24 subsidiaries worldwide and distributes its products in 83 countries. It also has 60 single-brand showrooms and 5 manufacturing plants in Italy, France, Hungary, and the USA, 2 glass factories, and 2 research and development centers in Italy and France. With almost 700 employees, Artemide's lamps and objects are exhibited in renowned museums and design collections worldwide, including MoMA in New York, VIctoria and Albert Museum in London, National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan, National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome, and Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. The chair measures 47cm in width, 40cm in depth, 76cm in height, and 45cm for the seat. The chairs are in good condition and have the original rubber feet. To ensure protection and safety during shipment, we use special packaging materials like wooden crates and styrofoam.
