Following years of collaboration between Verner Panton and VItra, the iconic Panton chair was introduced in 1967, marking the first all-plastic cantilever chair made in a single piece. Its unique, sculptural design was presented at the imm Furniture Fair in 1968 and quickly became a symbol of an era. In celebration of the chair's 50th anniversary, VItra has released two limited editions: Panton Chrome and Panton Glow. The latter, a white luminescent version, was limited to 333 chairs and sold in June 2018. Throughout his career, Verner Panton was fascinated by innovative techniques, materials, and lighting, and he frequently employed glowing elements in his designs, such as the infamous "VIsiona 2" installation. In conjunction with Verner's wife, Marianne Panton, VItra developed the Panton Glow, featuring a hand-applied varnish containing phosphorescent pigments sealed with a glossy protective coating. The result is an almost spectral appearance, emitting a blue glow in the dark that shines new light on this iconic classic. This listing is for a single chair, adding elegance to any space.
