In 1985, Maxalto produced a gorgeous set of 6 Africa chairs that were originally designed by award-winning postmodern Italian architects and designers, Afra & Tobia Scarpa, in 1975. These chairs feature solid walnut frames with ebony inlays and brass details, and have recently been upholstered with soft aniline leather seats. The wooden frames are in near-perfect condition, with only minimal signs of use and retaining their original lacquered finish. The Scarpa's design portfolio is impressive and diverse, encompassing household items, furniture, clothing, interior design, art glass, and architecture. Their works can be found in prestigious museums around the world, including MoMA and the Louvre Museum. Their designs are characterized by technical mastery and a keen attention to the aesthetic possibilities of materials, a trait which they inherited from Tobia's father, Carlo Scarpa, himself a renowned architect and designer from Venice.
