Launched alongside the RF698 Mid as part of the Sakura pack, the Ronnie Fieg x Puma R698 "Sakura" embodied the early stages of cherry blossoms in Japan. After a trip to Japan, Tokyo became RF's favorite city, partly due to the inspiration drawn from the cherry blossom for the Sakura Puma. The cherry blossom, which transitions from white to faint pink and eventually to deep cherry red, only blooms for a short period each year. During this time, the people of Tokyo admire the tree for its beauty, much like sneaker enthusiasts cherish the Sakura R698. Crafted with microperforated pigskin suede, the Cherry Blossom Pumas featured a gradient midsole that shifted from deep red to white. This marked Ronnie Fieg's first use of a gradient midsole, perfectly capturing the evolution of the cherry blossom. Released as part of the Tokyo Sakura Collection in the Spring of 2015, the Ronnie Fieg x Puma R698 "Sakura" translated the essence of the stunning cherry blossoms into a stylish form.
