The latest addition to the Ronnie Fieg x Puma collaboration, the RF698 Mid "Sakura," was part of the Sakura pack which also included the R698 design. Inspired by the cherry blossoms that bloom in Japan for a short period of time, Fieg created the Sakura RF698 to capture the later stages of the cherry blossom's beauty. Drawing inspiration from his trip to Tokyo, Fieg was moved by not only the trees themselves but also by the reverence people showed towards nature during the cherry blossom season. The Cherry Blossom Pumas featured premium microperforated pigskin suede with a navy nubuck toe box and a gradient midsole transitioning from navy to cherry. This new model not only extended the original R698 into a mid design but also marked Fieg's first use of a gradient midsole in his projects. Released as part of the Tokyo Sakura Collection in Spring 2015, the RF698 Mid "Sakura" was available at Kith locations and online. Fieg considers this shoe to be one of his greatest achievements.
