E. Kold Christensen lounge chairs designed by Poul Kjærholm in 1968 showcase a contemporary style that marries straight lines and flowing forms. The cantilevered design combines structural integrity with comfort, thanks to its characteristic bending feature, high backrest, and head cushion. Kjærholm opted for chrome-plated steel for the base and black leather for the seating to create a cohesive, modern aesthetic. Kjærholm, a Danish designer and cabinetmaker, believed in the artistic fineness of steel as a construction material, which is evident in this iconic piece. Kjærholm collaborated with manufacturer Ejvind Kold Christensen from 1955 to 1980, and in 1982, Fritz Hansen later took over production and sales of Kjærholm's designs. In 2007, Fritz Hansen added two new pieces to the Kjærholm Collection - the PK8‚Ñ¢ side chair and PK58‚Ñ¢ dining table. It is recommended to restore the leather before use, and our in-house restoration artisans can handle it to ensure that each piece retains its value and is primed for lasting use.
