Its sturdy frame is built from spring steel, with a rich burgundy leather covering the seating. To complete its impressive profile, it proudly bears the label of Fritz Hansen. Poul Kjærholm, a skilled carpenter who later pursued a degree at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts, harbored a deep fascination for various construction materials, steel in particular. He believed steel to be as naturally artistic as other materials and was employed at Fritz Hansen for a year, during which he conceptualized several awe-inspiring prototypes for chairs.
