Poul Henningsen designed a unique set of foldable theatre chairs in 1957 for the Betty Nansen Theatre's renovation in Copenhagen. Andreas Christensen brought these chairs to life. These distinct chairs were spotlighted in the famous Danish design magazine Mobilia (issue number 322) in 1984. The base and frame of the chairs are made out of black lacquered metal with brass stems in the back, while rubber covers the tubular steel armrests. Blue fabric upholstery covers the back and seat cushion. They have never been altered and maintain the original blue upholstery, though with some signs of wear and repairs on both back cushions. The black painted frame has some rust, scratches, and missing paint, but remains in an authentic used condition. These chairs have never been produced in any line other than for the theatre, making them a piece of Danish architectural history that is truly exceptional.
