Poul Henningsen was born to the well-known Danish actress, Agnes Henningsen, in Copenhagen. Although he did not complete his studies to become an architect, he attended The Technical School at Frederiksberg in Denmark from 1911-1914, before proceeding to Technical College in Copenhagen from 1914-1917. While he initially pursued traditional functionalistic architecture, Henningsen eventually shifted his focus towards lighting, which became his forte and what he is most renowned for. The lighting fixture he created is designed to offer 100% glare-free illumination. With 72 precisely arranged leaves forming twelve unique rows of six leaves each, the fixture casts a diffused light and an exclusive pattern throughout the room. It offers decorative and comfortable lighting that is of the highest quality, even in the energy-efficient LED variant. The fixture is available in various materials, including punched brass, punched copper, laser-cut stainless steel, or punched steel, as well as white spun steel, high luster chrome-plated, laser-cut steel, and high luster chrome-plated spun aluminum. The light source utilizes 1 x 200W A-23 bulbs, but they are not included in the package. The voltage of the fixture is 120V, which makes it ideal for many households.
