Born in Copenhagen to the renowned Danish actress Agnes Henningsen, Poul Henningsen did not graduate as an architect, but instead studied at The Technical School in Frederiksberg, Denmark from 1911 to 1914 and at Technical College in Copenhagen from 1914 to 1917. While he initially practiced traditional functionalistic architecture, his interests eventually shifted towards lighting, which became his most famous work. Featuring 72 precisely positioned leaves that create 12 distinct rows of six leaves each, the fixture provides 100% glare-free light while emitting diffused light with a unique pattern. This decorative and comfortable lighting is maintained at the highest level even in the energy-saving LED variant. The fixture is fashioned out of punched brass, punched copper, laser-cut stainless steel, or punched steel, and is available in white spun steel, high-luster chrome-plated laser-cut steel, or high-luster chrome-plated spun aluminum. The light source is a 97W LED bulb with a color temperature of 3000K, and the fixture operates under a voltage range of 120-277V.
