Pierre Paulin, a renowned French designer born in 1927 and passed away in 2009, began his career after completing his studies at école Camondo. He later joined Marcel Gascoin's studio in 1953, where he showcased his first creations at the Salon des Arts Ménagers that same year. Impressively, Paulin's revolutionary designs gained immense attention and were published by Thonet France from 1954. He then began working with Artifort publisher in Maastricht from 1959, producing a variety of vibrant chairs with rounded, soft shapes that were covered in Jersey fabric. Paulin's claim to fame came in 1970 with the honorary pavilion installation at the Universal Exhibition in Osaka, which internationalized his work. Further success came in 1971 when he was given the prestigious task of designing the private apartments of President Georges Pompidou at the élysée. Riding on the success of his creations, Paulin co-founded the design agency ADSA Partners alongside Maïa Wodzislawska and Marc Lebailly in 1975 and later expanded the team to include Roger Tallon and Michel Schreiber in 1984. Paulin's exceptional talent earned him the Grand Prix National de la Création Industriel award in 1987, and his pieces can be found among the collections of famous museums like MoMA in New York, the Center Pompidou in Paris, and the VIctoria and Albert Museum in London.
