The Artifort '442/3' sofa, crafted in The Netherlands in 1962 by Pierre Paulin, boasts an unconventional and whimsical three-seat design. This sofa's solid framework showcases sharp lines and geometric shapes executed with a delicate touch. Supported by chrome steel legs, this understated structure allows the sofa's focus to prioritize comfort alongside its eccentric and contemporary style. While pursuing his passion for design, French postwar designer Paulin, who passed away in 2009, drew his inspiration from Nordic modernity and simplicity. Despite struggling as a student in sculpture, Paulin referred to himself as a self-made designer. He had an impressive ability to visualize the 3D concepts of his furniture with ease. Paulin was a meticulous researcher who appreciated the social role of design.
