This Artifort chair model F675, known colloquially as the "Butterfly" chair, is a design gem created by Pierre Paulin. Produced in the 1960s, its classic thin tubular chrome-plated metal frame is delightfully juxtaposed with a natural leather seat and backrest that have aged gracefully, displaying a charming patina. The seating is attached directly to the frame, providing a comfortable and ergonomic experience by molding to the body over time. Pierre Paulin's background in sculpting and stone carving shines through in the expressiveness and opulence of this design. Influenced by both Scandinavian and American prefabrication styles, Paulin's work became treasured by the Dutch manufacturer Artifort, which has continued to produce many of his designs to this day.
