The Tulip armchair by Artifort, designed by Pierre Paulin, seems to have foreseen the rise of flower power. The chair's half-open petals embrace the sitter in a warming and inviting manner, making it a stately and comfortable armchair. Artifort still includes many of Paulin's designs from the 1960s and 1970s in its permanent collection, and the Tulip was reintroduced in 2003, available with a swiveling disk base or metal-strip cross-base. The chair measures ø 53 cm, while the foot stool measures ø 45 cm, both with an aluminum founded coquille and available in both powder coated and polished finishes. The seat and back feature a matrix pressed beech-wooden shell covered with molded foam and are available with or without upholstery. The Tulip armchair also comes with an optional footstool.
