The mushroom design is synonymous with Artifort and holds a special place in our hearts. Its creator, Pierre Paulin, crafted the armchair with a distinctive shape, vibrant colors, and innovative manufacturing technique for its time. Paulin drew inspiration from observing women and their smooth, fitted swimming suits, striving to create a seat that evoked the same form-fitting appeal. The seamless, one-piece elastic fabric and alluring curves of the mushroom marked an industry first, revolutionizing furniture production in the 60s and inspiring many creations with sculptural forms. Today, the iconic armchair is part of MoMa's permanent collection. The plump and comfortable padding, coupled with a playful array of hues, embody a trendy, avant-garde feel. The original F562 mushroom is now reintroduced as the big mushroom, boasting inviting, ample, and sumptuous features that beckon relaxation. The armchair base rests on a multiplex black floor plate and comes with five white plastic gliders, with options for metal or felt gliders. The frame comprises a steel insert covered by molded foam.
