Artifort's French-born designer Pierre Paulin created this armchair, featuring his signature organic curves that are prevalent in many of his designs. During the 1950s, Kho Liang Le, Artifort's head of design, recruited Paulin, and the company continues to produce his designs today. According to Paulin, his time at Artifort allowed him to fully express his abilities and explore new manufacturing processes, as he considered chair production to be primitive. His success led him to redecorate the private apartments at the Elysée for Pompidou and furnish Françoise Mitterrand's office. In November 2009, he was posthumously awarded the title "Royal Designer for Industry." This armchair is in excellent condition, having been recently upholstered in an alpaca velvet in white muffle by Rose Uniacke in a beautiful manner.
