These lounge chairs were designed by Pierre Paulin and manufactured in Holland back in 1962. Recently, they have been upholstered using off-white or light grey velvet, making them look brand new. The chairs come with solid steel legs that are chrome-plated. It's worth noting that this particular pair of chairs by Paulin is very rare and a highly sought-after collectible. Paulin was recognized for his innovative designs in the 1960s when he worked for Artifort. His most famous chair designs include the Mushroom chair (1959), Ribbon chair (1966), and Tongue chair (1968). He was extremely influential during the 1970s and was invited by Mobilier national to decorate the private apartments of Georges Pompidou in the Élysée Palace (1971) as well as Françoise Mitterrand's office in 1983. Paulin also lent his expertise to redesign various locations such as the Denon Wing of the Louvre Museum, the hall of Tapestries in the Paris City Hall, the Economic and Social Council assembly room, the Green Room of the state radio's Broadcasting House ("Maison de la Radio"), the Nikko Hotel, and more.
