This chair is not only an exceptional item, but also a design icon in its own right. Its raw and unadorned appearance conveys a nonchalant attitude that exudes simplicity. Despite its unassuming appearance, the design is relaxing, yet sharp and fierce at the same time. Originally designed as a school chair, the inclusion of a small desk adds an interesting dimension to the overall shape. The combination of a strong wood frame and delicate caning creates a striking contrast that makes each object unique and distinct. From thinner, lower, wider, or darker, to more or less worn or with denser caning, each chair has its own character, making them desirable one-of-a-kind pieces. These chairs are made of patinated teak, which enhances their overall character and individuality. As historical pieces from an UNESCO World Heritage site, they are the work of the most prominent architects of the 20th century, including Pierre Jeanneret. We intentionally avoid restoring them too much to preserve their original patina and historical value. Only authentic midcentury objects are sold in our gallery. Our owner personally handpicks each piece in India, and we purchase them unrestored to ensure all signs of authenticity are clearly visible. We do not replace damaged parts with new or from other Jeanneret pieces. We value the importance of preserving old cracks, scratches, worn lacquer, and other signs of authenticity. Our "Certificate of Authenticity" guarantees the authenticity of all pieces. Our gallery is located in Switzerland, the birthplace of Pierre Jeanneret and Le Corbusier. Our founder studied architecture at the prestigious ETH in Zurich, and subsequently focused on Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand, and Le Corbusier pieces in his gallery. We are proud to be one of the world's largest experts on Chandigarh objects.
