This lovely set, made of solid wood and consisting of a coffee table and two tripod stools, was a joint effort between two major players in French modernism during the 20th century: architect and designer, Jean Prouvé, and Swiss architect and designer, Pierre Jeanneret. Their friendship extended beyond their professional collaboration. Created during the 1940-1945 period, the table is 37cm high with a tabletop measuring 74cm x 57cm, while the stools stand at 47cm high. Jean Prouvé and Pierre Jeanneret shared a similar ambition for their work, which was influenced less by Le Corbusier's push for standardization and more by the practicality of their designs. Their collaboration on the "F 8√ó8 house" project, which began in the late 1930s, was particularly noteworthy as it saw them overcome material shortages of metal to create structures and furniture using previously overlooked materials such as wood. Their partnership resulted in not only temporary and comfortable dwellings but also aesthetically-pleasing furniture. The two designers remained committed to their passion for modernity and originality, ensuring that practical considerations never compromised the exceptional quality and execution of their work.
