These are a rare set of six upholstered dining chairs by Pierre Jeanneret, Model PJ-SI-25-E, characterized by a compass-type double side leg assembly held together by two crosspieces at the top. These chairs are originally from Punjab University in Chandigarh, France, India, and date back to the 1960s. They are upholstered in brand new faux leather, while the wood bears a strong patina and shows signs of wear due to its age. Each chair is marked to indicate its provenance and authenticity. Our gallery, with over 40 years of experience in high design, guarantees the authenticity and quality of each item it sells, with hundreds of five-star reviews and no negative reviews. We can also sell these chairs individually - pricing is available upon inquiry. Other notable French designers from this period include Jean Prouvé, Maison Jansen, Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Paulin, Yves Klein, Jacques Adnet, Jean Royere, Pierre Chapo, Philippe Starck, Audoux Minet, Andre Arbus, Le Corbusier, and Jean Nouvel.
