The Armchair, originally designed by Pierre Jeanneret around 1950, has been relaunched by Cassina in Italy in 2019. This armchair is part of Le Corbusier's Capitol Complex, which was added to UNESCO's Cultural Heritage list in 2016. The Haute Cour, along with the Secretariat and the Assemblée wing, make up the core of the Capitol Complex, all featuring armchairs with the same "V" support structure theme. The armchair's padding almost completely envelops the armrest, creating a rounded geometric shape for extreme comfort while maintaining elegance and simplicity. The reissued version by Cassina is available in teak and two versions in natural and stained black oak, paying homage to Pierre Jeanneret's key role in the realization of Chandigarh. This project is considered Le Corbusier's most mature work, summarizing his poetics, technique, and ideology. The armchair is made of wood and leather, with polyurethane foam padding. The dimensions of the chair are 76 cm x 69 cm x 74 cm, with a seat height of 37 cm. Cassina continues to look towards the future of design while preserving and revisiting furnishing designs by twentieth-century architects with their I Maestri collection.
