This chair embodies an iconic design, celebrated for its simplicity and slightly weathered appearance. Crafted from solid teak with a braided cane seat, circa 1960, its flawless patina has been preserved through minimal restoration, with the cane being the only part replaced in 2017. The chair's clear and minimalistic form hails from the Secretary of the Capitol (Sector 1). Adding to its value, the back of the chair features authentic letters that serve as a visual connection to the history of Chandigarh. We pride ourselves on offering only authentic mid-century objects, sourced directly by the gallery owner in India. We purchase objects in their original and unrestored state, prioritizing the preservation of patina and signs of authenticity such as old cracks, scratches, and worn lacquer. We stand behind the authenticity of all our items, and provide a Certificate of Authenticity. Our Switzerland-based gallery is rooted in the design traditions of Pierre Jeanneret and Le Corbusier. Our owner's background in architecture, combined with his expertise in Chandigarh objects, makes us a top destination for collectors. Please join us at our spacious 450m2 showroom, where we showcase a selection of raw design masterpieces.
