This chair is an iconic piece of furniture with a distinct A-shaped profile that stands as a rare classic of history. Its sophisticated proportions and elegant shape represent the timeless mindset of modernist architecture and design. The chair is made up of natural, solid teak wood, and can be upholstered with fabrics, leather, or hides, with or without piping. The price includes upholstery with normal leather (70$/m2, 6$/ft2), but we can use your preferred fabrics or leathers and adjust the price accordingly. The cover photo depicts the chair in black skai. We also have them available as a pair. Despite its simplicity and roughness, the chair's few well-executed elements support its appearance. Pierre Jeanneret, one of the most influential architects and designers of the modernist period, was involved in numerous projects alongside Le Corbusier that had a significant impact on modern architecture. We take great care in restoring these chairs, aiming to preserve as much of their historical traces and value as possible without over-restoring them. We only sell authentic mid-century items, sourced by the gallery owner from India and bought unrestored to ensure that all traces and significant authenticity indicators are visible. We do not replace original parts with new ones or parts from other Jeanneret pieces. The patina and other signs of authentic age, such as old cracks, layers of scratches, worn lacquer, beam distortions, or oxidized wood due to use, are all preserved. To ensure authenticity, we provide a Certificate of Authenticity. It's wise to buy from experts since there are many fakes and Chandigarh objects without serious provenance papers.
