A significant piece, this judge chair features a solid teak construction with a flat inclined back and lateral base that forms a bridge. The armrests are detached and come with rounded cuffs while the seat, backrest, and cuffs are covered with restored white leather. Dating back to around 1955, this chair has a provenance that traces back to the Court of Chandigarh in India. This item is also mentioned in E. Touchaleaume & G. Moreau's book, "Le Corbusier Pierre Jeanneret – l'aventure indienne," specifically on page 567 (LC/PJ-SI-43-A) where you can find a color reproduction of a similar item. You can also find similar pieces in the City Museum of Chandigarh.
