The Civil Bench, originally designed by Pierre Jeanneret in 1955 for the Legislature Assembly's lodgings in Chandigarh, India, has been reintroduced in 2020 by Italian manufacturer Cassina. As part of the Hommage à Pierre Jeanneret Collection, the bench features three seats with a single frontal crossbar and two side supports in the form of an inverted "V". The bench's design utilizes traditional Indian spirit while balancing it with modern European ideals. The woven seat is a recurring feature of the collection and is produced in Cassina's carpentry workshop. Optional cushions can be added for added comfort and protection. The release of the Civil Bench serves as a tribute to Pierre Jeanneret's contributions to the Chandigarh project, which is regarded as Le Corbusier's most mature work. Cassina's I Maestri collection revisits the furnishing designs of renowned 20th-century architects utilizing modern technology while preserving the original designs and functional concepts.
