The Table designed by Pierre Jeanneret around 1950 has been relaunched by Cassina in Italy in 2019. It was originally used in the Legislative Assembly building of Le Corbusier's Capitol Complex, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2016. The base of the table consists of two solid wood elements with a unique "corns entrecroisées" shape, giving it a solemn and graphic appearance that complements the grandeur of the assembly hall. The Cassina re-edition offers three versions, including a historic model with teak top and structure, natural and black stained oak models, and a glass top option in different sizes. This product is a tribute to Pierre Jeanneret, who played a significant role in the realization of Chandigarh and combined European modernism with Indian tradition. The Chandigarh project is considered Le Corbusier's most mature work, summarizing his poetics, technique and ideology, and enhancing the culture of architecture and design. The table's dimensions are D 130 cm, W 270 cm, and H 72 cm, and it is available in wood and glass materials. Please note that some of the images show other colors and variations of the model, and the actual color may vary slightly from your monitor due to different monitor settings. Pierre Jeanneret is overlooked by his cousin Le Corbusier but has contributed significantly to modernist architecture and design by emphasizing function and order over embellishment. While collaborating with Charlotte Perriand on experiments in aluminum and wood, Jeanneret developed prefabricated housing with Jean Prouvé. After joining his cousin in Chandigarh in the 1950s, Jeanneret remained there for 15 years as the project's chief architect, designing low-cost buildings and furniture. Cassina's I Maestri collection revisits furnishing designs by 20th century's best-known architects while using evolved technology. Today, Cassina continues to look to the future of design with curiously audacious and unique perspectives.
