The Chair designed by Pierre Jeanneret circa 1950 has been relaunched in 2019 by Cassina in Italy. It is a well-known and recognizable chair found in Chandigarh's Capitol Complex and can be seen in the offices of the Secretariat. The chair comprises of solid wood pieces, including side bars in an inverted "V" supporting the armrests. The backrest and seat are made of woven Viennese cane, which is a common element in the area. The chair pays tribute to Pierre Jeanneret, who played a vital role in the realization of Chandigarh. Jeanneret combined essential forms with simple materials to create a meeting point between modern European ideals and the traditional Indian spirit, resulting in the Chandigarh project being considered Le Corbusier's most mature work that summarises his poetics. The dimensions of the chair are D 57 cm x W 45 cm x H 81 cm with a seat height of 43 cm. The chair also comes with an upholstered cushion. Cassina has revisited furnishing designs by some of the twentieth century's best-known architects, including Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, Franco Albini, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Marco Zanuso. While the designs and functional concepts have been precisely preserved, the models have been manufactured using evolved technology.
