The Chair designed by Pierre Jeanneret in approximately 1950 has been relaunched in 2019, and has been manufactured in Italy by Cassina. The chair is well-known for being found throughout the offices of the Secretariat in Chandigarh's Capitol Complex. The chair's solid wood material includes independent pieces, with sidebars in an inverted "V" supporting the armrests, and the weaving used for the backrest and seat is also common in the region. The armless chair uses a "V" approach to sidebars but is shorter as they do not reach the arms. Instead, importance is given to the seating/backrest sequence in Viennese woven cane, held together by two wooden profiles and coplanar legs, making it simple but powerful at the same time. The chair pays tribute to Pierre Jeanneret, who was a key figure in the realisation of Chandigarh, and whose experience in India lasted until 1967. Jeanneret combined essential forms with simple materials to create a meeting point between modern European ideals and the traditional Indian spirit. The Chandigarh project is considered Le Corbusier's most mature work that summarises his poetics, technique and ideology, consistent with his desire to research and contribute to the culture of architecture and design. The chair materials include wood, backrest and seat in Indian cane, and an upholstered cushion. Its dimensions are D 57 cm, W 45 cm, H 81 cm, and seat height 43 cm. Just a reminder that some of the images show other colours and variations of the model, which are only for presenting interior design proposals. The actual colours may vary due to the different display capabilities of various screens. Pierre Jeanneret was a visionary of modernist architecture and design, consistently collaborating with other designers and pioneers to create new designs. Cassina continues to revisit furnishing designs by the 20th century's best-known architects through its I Maestri collection. In manufacturing these designs, Cassina uses evolved technology while preserving the original designs and functional concepts. Cassina continues to look to the future of design, with an open, holistic approach, and an exclusive ability to furnish a home's living and dining spaces completely and iconically by creating authentic, welcoming, and personal atmospheres dominated by a code of design excellence.
