The Pierre Jeanneret-designed Armchair, originally from circa 1950, has been relaunched by Cassina in Italy in 2019. This armchair was originally used in the overstuffed rooms of Le Corbusier's Capitol Complex in Chandigarh in 1951 and is included in UNESCO's Cultural Heritage list. The armchair features a unique "V" support structure and a rounded, geometric shape with seat and back cushioning that offers both elegance and comfort. The reissued version is available in teak and two versions of natural and stained black oak. Pierre Jeanneret, who played a key role in the realization of Chandigarh, is praised for his ability to combine essential forms with simple materials to create a meeting point between modern European ideals and traditional Indian spirit. Cassina's I Maestri collection revisits furnishing designs by the best-known 20th-century architects while manufacturing them using evolved technology.
