The Armchair, designed by Pierre Jeanneret circa 1950 and relaunched in 2019, is manufactured by Cassina in Italy. This armchair was a part of Le Corbusier's Capitol Complex, designed by Chandigarh in 1951, which is included in UNESCO's 2016 Cultural Heritage list. The Haute Cour, Secretariat, and Assemblée wing make up the core of Chandigarh's Capitol Complex and were filled with overstuffed armchairs all exhibiting the same "V" support structure theme. Cassina's reissue offers the Classic version in teak, and two versions in natural and stained black oak. This product is a tribute to Pierre Jeanneret, a key figure in the realization of Chandigarh, who combined essential forms with simple materials to create a meeting point between modern European ideals and the traditional Indian spirit. The Chandigarh project is considered Le Corbusier's most mature work that summarizes his poetics, technique, and ideology, consistent with his will to research and contribute to the culture of architecture and design. The armchair's materials consist of wood and leather, with padding made of polyurethane foam. The dimensions are D: 76 cm, W: 69 cm, H: 74 cm, and seat height: 37 cm. Please note that actual colors may vary due to differences in computer monitor displays. The Armchair's designer, Pierre Jeanneret, was a visionary of modernist architecture and design, while the manufacturer, Cassina, continues to look to the future of design with an open and holistic approach.
