The Chair, designed by Pierre Jeanneret circa 1950, has been relaunched in 2019 and is now manufactured by Cassina in Italy. This chair is highly recognizable within the offices of the Secretariat in Chandigarh's Capitol Complex. It is made up of solid wood and includes independent pieces, such as the sidebars in an inverted "V" supporting the armrests. The woven backrest and seat, stretched across a wooden frame, use local woods like teak and have become elements common to the region. The armless chair also follows the same V approach with the shorter sidebars that do not extend to the arms. The Viennese woven cane seating/backrest sequence is connected with an immense geometric section supported by two wooden profiles and coplanar legs, creating a simple yet powerful design. This product is a tribute to Pierre Jeanneret, a key figure in the realization of Chandigarh, who blended essential forms with simple materials to create a meeting point between modern European ideals and traditional Indian spirit. The Chandigarh project is considered Le Corbusier's most mature work, summarizing his poetics, technique, and ideology. The Chair's dimensions are D 58 cm, W 51 cm, H 81 cm, and seat height 43 cm.
