Critic tasting note: "This year, the frosts that hit in October left the section reserved for Uní del Bonnesant (Per Se's top wine) without fruit, so the new top of the pyramid is occupied by this La Craie, a red wine from a parcel that covers almost the entire property in the Monasterio zone in Gualtallary. It's a long, narrow slope that faces south (a cold exposure in this hemisphere) planted in 2013 in the highest part of the vineyard, some 1,500 meters above sea level. The soil there is rich in calcium-covered gravel, and that quality, along with the cool temperatures of its exposure, have a radical effect on the style of this blend of malbec and cabernet franc (approximately 70% : 30% or so) all co-fermented, even in warm years like 2020. The chalky sensation on the palate, the calcareous soil acting on the tannins, and the fresh, intense, and juicy red fruit lend verticality, sharp-edged tension, and depth in one of the best reds of the vintage." - 97/100, Patricio Tapia - Descorchados
