Bin 28 was named after the Barossa Valley Kalimna vineyard purchased by Penfolds in 1945 and from which the wine was originally sourced. Today, Bin 28 is a multi-region, multi-vineyard blend, and from 2019 onwards, the wine is not labelled 'Kalimna'. Critic tasting note: "The classic ʺBin 28ʺ, named Kalimna after a vineyard in the Barossa Valley from 1959, comes today as a multi-vineyard blend from four regions. Dark ruby, purple reflections, discreet brightening at the rim. Fine ethereal savouriness, a touch of sea buckthorn, fresh blackberry, a hint of green olive, some liquorice in the background. Substantial, dark forest fruit, black cherry, well-integrated tannins, elegant and persistent, delicately salty on the finish, already approachable, chocolatey nuances on the back palate.(now until 2040)." - 93/100, Falstaff
