This magnificent furniture piece was a result of the early collaboration between two skilled New Hope craftsmen - Phillip Lloyd Powell and Paul Evans. It captures the unique essence of each artist's individual artistry, as well as their seamless teamwork. During the 60s, Powell and Evans shared a studio and showroom where they created a limited collection of custom order furniture. Originally designed as a wall-mount cabinet, this piece was crafted from American Walnut using Powell's signature carving and chiseling technique. The side panels and trims were embellished with lacquered gold leaves, a signature detail present in their work during the 60s. It features a thick black slate top and metal hardware by Paul Evans, and includes a green-painted interior with felt-wrapped shelves, a built-in free-edged walnut tray, and lighting - all in original condition. The black lamination detachable base was likely added later when the cabinet was repurposed as a freestanding piece.
