Unveiled at the prestigious BaselWorld event in 2003, the Aqua Terra Railmaster pays homage to the classic Railmaster timepiece of the late 1950s. The specific model under the spotlight, known by its reference number 2502.52.00, boasts a sturdy 41mm stainless steel case paired with a complementary bracelet. The original OMEGA Railmaster, originating in 1957 alongside the iconic Speedmaster model, was initially developed for the British Royal Air Force in 1953. Crafted with a double antimagnetic case, it catered to professionals working in high electromagnetic fields, such as scientists, technicians, electricians, and railway personnel. The exterior featured Staybrite stainless steel, a polished beveled bezel, solid enveloping lugs, reinforced crystal, and a screw-in back with an O-ring gasket for water resistance. Internally, a protective cap, casing ring, and a thicker dial made of soft iron shielded the movement from magnetic fields exceeding 900 Oersted, significantly higher than conventional antimagnetic watches. Retaining the classic aesthetics of its predecessor, the modern Railmaster showcases a matte black dial adorned with luminous Arabic numerals at the quarters, triangular hour markers, and a central Railmaster inscription. The Dauphine-style hands with luminous inserts ensure optimal legibility in various lighting conditions. The timepiece is protected by a contemporary domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal held in place by a polished stainless steel bezel, maintaining the watch's sleek profile. While preserving the exterior design, the new Railmaster houses OMEGA's advanced Co-Axial Escapement movement, replacing the original calibre 30SC T4. The updated OMEGA calibre 2403, chronometer certified by COSC, features hour, minute, and central seconds functions on a refined dial. With a power reserve of 44 hours, the Co-Axial movement showcases exquisite Geneva wave décor, circular graining, and gold-plated engravings, ensuring superior accuracy over time. Exclusively equipped with the Co-Axial movement, the Railmaster models are available in 41mm and 38mm case sizes. The collection offers a selection of steel bracelets with safety clasps and brown or black leather straps with foldover clasps, totaling six distinctive models. All Aqua Terra timepieces, including the Railmaster, are equipped with a screw-in crown and case back, providing water resistance up to 150 meters. The case back features a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, offering a clear view of the intricate movement, ensuring lasting perfection.
