The Amanta lounge chair, which was released during the same year that C&B Italia was founded, features a distinct design where its shell and cushioned parts are separated using plastic material. This innovative design sets a new standard for modern seating, transforming what was once a hidden technical element into a highly expressive feature. The seat is made of fiberglass and printed polyester, with cushions attached using a threaded pin system. The chair's design has been compared to the Barcelona chair by Mies van der Rohe, but it also includes features such as a rear cut shell for increased resistance and spherical rubber feet that add elasticity and a lighter appearance. The chair can be connected with original bands to create a sofa-like appearance. Mario Bellini, an Italian designer born in 1935, graduated from the Milan Polytechnic in 1959, and went on to establish his professional studio for design in the 1960s. Among his notable projects are the P101, the world's first personal computer, and various typewriters and calculators for Olivetti. Bellini also worked as a design consultant for the Renault car manufacturer and served as president of the Industrial Design Association in the late 1960s to early 1970s. From 1986 to 1991, he was the director of Domus, and from 1979 to 2019, he was a member of the scientific council for Milan Triennale's design section. C&B Italia S.p.A. is an Italian furniture manufacturer that produces a wide variety of furniture and home decor items. The company was founded in 1966 in Novedrate by Cesare Cassina and Piero Ambrogio Busnelli, with Busnelli later acquiring Cassina's shares and transforming the company into one of the most automated furniture factories in the world. The headquarters, designed by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers in 1972, emphasizes the merging of technology and design.
