In 1977, renowned designer Mario Bellini crafted a pair of exquisite leather model 412 CAB Cassina chairs in Italy. These occasional chairs boast a sophisticated grey and white leather design, complete with the classic Cassina logos beneath the seat. Bellini once referred to these chairs as a groundbreaking innovation, completely crafted from cowhide and now widely replicated. The upholstery encompasses 21 parts, each meticulously stitched and fitted to the steel skeleton by hand, like a perfectly tailored garment. As a celebrated architect and designer, Bellini has won eight Golden Compass Awards and has more than 25 works on display in the New York MoMA permanent design collection. Former editor of Domus magazine (1985-1991), Bellini's design is a testament to his illustrious career. These chairs are part of the Estate of Jeannette and Wilfred Cass, Cass House, Goodwood, Chichester. Wilfred Cass CBE FRSA, born on November 11, 1924, co-founded the Cass Sculpture Foundation. He came from a famous Jewish Cassirer family, which included an important dealer for the impressionists, a publisher, an industrialist, and a philosopher. His grandfather was also a famous German brain surgeon.
