Mario Bellini designed the Amanta armchair set for B&B Italia in the 1960s. This was his first creation for the fledgling Italian company, and he drew inspiration from Ludwig Mies Van de Rohe's Barcelona armchair to produce a pioneering modular sofa. Although no longer in production, a revised version was released in 1975, featuring structural changes such as the removal of the rear slot and buttons, plus the addition of an armrest module. The cubic seat is supported by a single piece of reinforced polyester with a slit in the backrest, while three cushions - each with three covered buttons - tighten the cover on both the backrest and seat. The chair has no base and bears the B&B Italia logo moulded under its frame. It is in excellent condition, having been fully reupholstered by our workshop.
