A charming trio of Knoll barstools was designed by Mies van der Rohe and Philip Johnson for the Four Seasons restaurant in New York City back in 1958. One of these stools was purchased at the restaurant's iconic furnishings auction in 2016 and was actually utilized at the establishment's bar. The other two are more recent with 2009 tags underneath. All three barstools make for an excellent collection. While the original stool exhibits some wear, visible in the detailed photos of the seat and chromed steel legs, the two newer ones are in great clean vintage condition despite some marks on the leather and chrome, as shown in the detailed photos provided. According to the Knoll website, the concept was a collaboration between Mies, who designed the Seagram Building, and Phillip Johnson, responsible for the restaurant's design. The cantilevered frame and slim profile complement the Flat Bar Brno Chair, a recurring element throughout the restaurant. Knoll mass-produced the design for the first time in 2006 and in honor of the company's 80th anniversary in 2018, introduced an antique bronze finish option.
