This is an iconic and authentic piece - the leather cushion and Mahogany frame both bear Knoll International labels - known as the 'Barcelona Daybed' or 'Barcelona Couch', designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. It is an early example from the 1960s and 70s, made before Knoll changed their manufacturing methods in the 1980s. It is signed with a label bearing the 320 Park Ave address and dated July 9, 1975, placing its production between 1968 and 1970. This rare original 1st-Generation 'Barcelona Daybed' retains its brown leather upholstery with signs of wear adding to its visual appeal. The original bolster pillow is also present, secured to the cushion and platform via straps and lock snaps. The platform is made of Mahogany and supported by stainless steel legs. It is suitable for use in various settings such as living room, family room, study, den, lounge, and corporate, retail, or hospitality settings like hotel lobbies, cocktail bars, members clubs, workspaces, executive offices, or retail boutiques. The design works with Mid-Century Modern, Contemporary, Bauhaus, Traditional, Transitional, and other decor styles. The measurements are 16" H x 78" W x 40" D (without bolster cushion), and the overall condition is good vintage.
