In 1928, René Lalique created the decorative panels called Merles et Raisins, made of white moulded pressed glass with a silver-colored background, to adorn the interior of the Presidential Wagon on the Orient Express. This elegant design features blackbirds pecking at grapes, a motif that represents sophistication and the "Art de Vivre". The panels were designed to complement the Cuban mahogany woodwork of the train. The Merles et Raisins pattern is now available in Clear Crystal and Ivory Ash, with other finishes also possible upon request. The dimensions of the panels are H 118 x L 146 x D 56 cm (including crystal handles), and they weigh 183.0 kg. This design is part of a numbered edition by Lalique Maison, created by Lady Tina Green & Pietro Mingarelli.
