Critic tasting note: "At the time of tasting (Feb '22), ex-Penfolds Grange winemaker John Duval's Cab, housed in a bottle heavy enough to sprain a muscle, is in an awkward place. The sweet toffee and toast oak overpowers, particularly on the palate. Notes of cherry jam, plum compote, baking spice, graphite, ground pepper and cedar are tucked underneath. The distinctive texture of this well-known producer is here, but at the moment the grainy wood element is drying and distracting. Christina Pickard" - 89/100, Wine Enthusiast
