The famous Valet chair, crafted from the finest teak and oakwood, boasts a seat that ingeniously swings upward to conveniently hang trousers and hidden storage to stash pocket contents. Created by Hans Wegner in 1953, the inspiration for this design stemmed from conversations with Professor of Architecture Steen Eiler Rasmussen and designer Bo Bojesen about the practicality of folding clothes at bedtime. Combining functionality with an eye-catching sculptural design, Wegner managed to fashion a top rail that doubles as a coat hanger and a seat that effortlessly accommodates any personal belongings. Even before its completion, The Valet Chair caught the attention of the Danish King Frederik IX who ordered ten of the chairs after waiting two years for the finished product.
